'Tis the Season

The Junior League of Nashville is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. The Junior League of Nashville reaches out to women of all races, religions, and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and a commitment to voluntarism.

Annual Meeting

(May 21, 2008) This year's Junior League of Nashville Annual Meeting was a celebration of volunteers making a difference in the community.  The evening included the presentation of gifts to the community totaling $425,000 to nine agencies including the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Centerstone, Saddle Up!, the Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee, Ronald McDonald House, Preston Taylor Ministries, St. Luke’s Community House, Rejoice Ministries and Our Kids.  At the end of the evening fifteen former JLN Presidents joined 2007-2008 JLN President Mary Rigby in passing the gavel to incoming 2008-2009 JLN President Dara Dickson.

Junior League of Nashville Awarded $10,000 for Outstanding Leadership Development

(May 3, 2008) As part of an Awards Dinner Celebration recognizing outstanding achievement in leadership development, the Junior League of Nashville received the Junior League Leadership Development Award at The Association of Junior Leagues International Inc. (AJLI) 86th Annual Conference held at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina, April 30-May 3, in San Diego, California. The award was presented at a banquet sponsored by Anheuser-Busch, Inc. and attended by

representatives from 293 Junior Leagues in four countries.  This year’s JL Awards were underwritten by AJLI Board member, Gena Lovett, COO of Alexandra Investment Management.  “The Junior League of Nashville’s drive and dedication to make a difference are evident in their impressive work in the community,” said Lovett.  “This award-winning program serves as a wonderful model for volunteers everywhere.” 

Paragon Award Winners Announced

(April 1, 2008) The Junior League of Nashville is pleased to announce the winners of the 2007-2008 Paragon Awards! The Sustainer Service Award goes to Beth Moore. The recipient for the Outstanding Service Award is Sally Holland. Jenny Barker is the recipient for the First Year Active Award. Robb Harvey is the Community Service Award winner. Soles4Souls

(February 29, 2008) The First Year Actives have done a wonderful job collecting new or gently used shoes for the organization Soles4Souls. Thus far, they have collected 74 pairs!  If you would like to learn more about Soles4Souls please click here

JLN Selects 2008-2009 Pillar Grant Recipients

(February 5, 2008)  The Junior League of Nashville is pleased to announce the recipients of our 2008-2009 Pillar Grants!  These agencies include Centerstone, Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee, OUR KIDS, Preston Taylor Ministries, Rejoice Ministries, Ronald McDonald House, Saddle Up!, and St. Luke's Community House.  The Community Research Committee chose projects or programs that not only fit the mission and vision of the Junior League of Nashville, but also promote and advance child health - which is the cornerstone of our rich and celebrated legacy.
